OVERVIEW
Reporting to and under the direction of the Manager, Machining, this position is responsible for:
The setting-up, and operating of CNC Machining Centers to cut various sizes of metal work pieces during the course of the mould/die build or repair according to customer specifications and requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables
Load, unload, change and modify program data into CNC control unit of machine for various operations needed to complete the job
Set up, operate and maintain CNC 5 axis/Gun Drill Machining Center using controls to adjust feeds and speeds
Compute dimensions, work within tolerances, able to measure and lay out work pieces
Examines work piece, selects work holding arrangement and plans sequence of machining operations
Positions, sets-up, secures work pieces to table and/or angle plates, using clamps, shims, parallel blocks, bolts, fixturing system
Verifies alignment of work pieces with center of machine spindle
Selects and mounts proper cutting tools in machine spindle
Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance
Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances
Check and verify the dimensions at each step of the process for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
Repair machine tools and parts
Sharpens cutting tools using bench or pedestal grinder
Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports
Expected to maintain a clean work environment at all times
